The Island of Visingsö lies in the southern part of lake Vättern in southern Sweden. Lake Vättern is the second largest lake in Sweden with an area of 1912 km². The length of the lake is 135 km, the width 31 km and the greatest depth 130 m.   

Visingsö is the largest island in the lake with a length of 14 km, a greatest width of 3 km and with a population of approximately 800 people.
